Alex Cave is a photographer.
Born in 1986 to a family of circus performers, Alex took up music after finding an upright bass while train hopping across America. After learning to read, he decided to make a living as a street performer until a brawl at a cockfight in Tijuana resulted in the loss of a finger on his bass slappin’ hand. As he was contemplating what to do next in life, Alex won a Leica M6 during a game of craps, setting off a chain of events that led to his tireless pursuit of photography.
Eventually Alex made his way to Los Angeles where he decided to throw it all away to join the workforce and become a productive member of society. After attending UCLA and Antioch University, Alex started working odd jobs in the photography industry: as a 2nd Assistant Camera and an on-set stills photographer on bad movies, darkroom tech at a photo lab, and eventually, a freelance photojournalist.
Alex is represented by ZUMA press where he photographs football and hockey, as well as migrant issues.
